Rivky Greenberg, a native of Antwerp, Belgium, has been teaching music since she was a junior in high school. Fluent in six languages, she has led multiple choirs and music programs in Belgium, as well as in Montreal, Canada, where she continued her education. After moving to Buffalo and the arrival of her first child in 1999, her focus shifted towards music education for early childhood. She has taught at Temple Beth Zion’s Play And Learn School, Kadimah’s Nursery School, Temple Beth Am, Temple Sinai, The Jewish Heritage Day School and the JCC Early Childhood Center.
In 2005, due to popular demand, Rivky started her own Jewish “Mommy & Me” Music and Movement classes, geared towards infants, toddlers and preschoolers, accompanied by the adults who love them.
Rivky’s unique teaching talent and her love of children, combined with her musical skills, her multi-lingual capabilities and her knowledge of Judaism, enable her to infuse the richness of Jewish tradition and Hebrew language into the hearts of the young through music and song.
Rivky strongly believes that music and singing should be part of every child’s life. There is a huge body of research supporting the positive benefits of sharing music with infants and children. Not only does it help with the parent-child bond, but it helps calm both parents and child. These early interactions, as well as the exposure to Jewish values early in life, have been shown to help maintain a positive attitude towards life in general and Judaism in particular.
Through her baby and toddler classes, Rivky aims to give moms a fun day out, as well as skills, games and songs that can be taken home and enjoyed by all.
